Incongruity Part 2
May 21st 2008 02:23
Last time I bitched about the cancer of bands saying “Yeah! That’s great… so let’s change it up!”
Now I’m going to name and shame. Ahem.
Ben Folds: Rockin’ the Suburbs
The title track is a satirical rock song. The rest are cute piano songs. Oh.
Tea Party: The Edges of Twilight
Two totally freaking unreal rock tracks followed by a dozen Irish jigs. What the hell were they thinking? Release it under another name, for God’s sake.
Korn: See You on the Other Side
Big, dark rock. Oh, except for the thin, up-tempo opening track that really wasn’t ‘Got the Life’.
Foo Fighters: There is Nothing Left to Lose
Nothing left to lose? What about my business? I bought the album after hearing track one, Stacked Actors, on the radio. Put it on at home, and what did I find? A small piece of me died that day
Datarock: Datarock
Computer Camp Love was so cool! The rest of the album was so crap! Yay!
Eskimo Joe: Black Fingernails Red Wine
A great, big, stereo-smashing title track, wading in a pool of ungainly pop filth. “Does this mean we’re breaking up?” Dear, oh dear.
Silverchair: Young Modern
Hmm… a radio rock track, heading an album of zany 60s pop. Rightio…
No, no… this won’t do at all.
